Some of the anticipated electric compact SUVs are Citroen’s C3, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ai3, the Mahindra XUV300 and KUV 100, the Tata Punch, the VW ID.4, and the Kia Sonet EV. Vehicles under 4 metres in length that meet engine capacity requirements pay a lower excise charge.

According to analysts, the SUV class has been rising in volume and, as a result, market share, with the introduction of several new models, but passenger vehicle model launches have decreased dramatically.

Ravi Bhatia, president of Jato Dynamics, told Economic Times, “SUVs are popular due to their durability and functionality. However, consumers looking for a low-emission car may be put off by an SUV’s high fuel usage. That is where an electric SUV comes in handy.”

Given the emphasis on carbon neutrality targets, electric vehicles (EVs) are a focal area.

Mahindra just unveiled the XUV 400, an electric SUV. The brand is also witnessing increased interest in SUVs, where it has just launched numerous models.
