Ola has been able to make a formidable name for its products over time, but now the brand seems to be going through a rough patch. The brand has recently announced that the delivery of its S1 Z and Gig models have been delayed. The Manufacturer has cited the current focus on Roadster electric bike platforms alongside efforts to improve cost structure and sales as the reason behind delivery delay. Ola has been putting in profound efforts to improve the electric bike platform, cost structure and sales across its networks.
Ola S1Z and Gig Models Delayed
In November last year, Ola announced the launch of its first B2B-oriented electric scooter Gig in two variants. The scooter was to be priced between the range of Rs 39,999- Rs 49,999. It also announced the launch of its all new S1-Z at Rs 59,999 targeting budget conscious urban commuters. Deliveries of both models were slated to start April and May of this year. But the brand has moved the launch ahead letter to an unspecified date.
Beyond these models, the brand has not been able to complete its delivery commitments for the Roadster motorcycle as well Initially. Ola’s deliveries were slated to have started in March. It was then changed to April and then finally commenced just a few days ago on May 21. Ola has been witnessing increased pressure on its market shares amid the rising competition from Bajaj Auto and TVS motor. The Automaker has witnessed tremendous volume drop in sales.
The Automaker saw its sales volume drop on all four quarters of the FY25 on a sequential basis. Ola has lost its no one spot in the recent months. As a corrective measure Ola electric has been focusing on expanding its stores and service infrastructure till the time deliveries have been delayed. The Company has now expanded to about 4,000 stores in total, and claims it has brought down the service turnaround to 1.1 days.
