In a recent update, Toyota has unveiled one of its cheapest EV cars. With its advanced features similar to the other rivals in the market, the car has been aimed to increase Toyota’s footprint in China. The Aim of the new launch has been to bring in new customers to the brand and compete with the likes of BYD and others.
The Cheapest models that have been launched in Japan cost around $20,000 as per Reuters. Converted this number would stand at Rs 17,43,575. Toyota has been clear about how it wants to capture a stake into the market with a new more affordable launch. Its possible that Toyota would soon follow the same strategy in the Indian market and launch a much cheaper EV than the ones already available in the market.
Toyota Bz3x
Toyota would not be selling a single vehicle rather it would introduced a family of vehicles which feature a host of new vehicles. The Bz3x or the local name Bozhi 3x would soon become the go to for many in the Chinese market. The version that is soon going to be sold in China has been equipped with Lidar and Self Driving features.
Toyota’s operations in China operate under a joint venture with GAC group. Toyota has been planning to grab a stake in the EV market of China. The Car would offer a varying battery size between 50 and 58 Kw as per the variant you choose.
The larger battery in the group has been optimized for a range of 520 Km. Beyond the range, the car would be able to provide around 200 HP and a peak torque figure of 147 Pound Feet Of Torque. The Car has a minimalist interior, with an 14.7-inch screen in the center that is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The car further has a Chinese autonomous driving system that has been optimized by Momenta and includes Hardware such as Nvidia Drive Orin X. The system has been optimized to offer 254 trillion operations per second of Computing power.
Toyota Bz3x launch In India?
Would the New EV be launched in India? Toyota has as of yet showcased no impetus to launch the vehicle in India. Toyota has been planning to increase its overall grasp in India with its production ties with Suzuki. This strategy is different to that of the one they are using in China. As of yet Toyota has been planning to launch a EV version of their ICE vehicles, maybe in Future we would get to see the Bz3x to launch in India.
