Zomato’s year-end report

Despite biryani holding its title as India’s most-ordered dish for the eighth year running, the data indicates subtle yet notable shifts in the nation’s dining preferences. According to various reports, Zomato recorded over 9.13 crore biryani orders in 2024, averaging an impressive three orders per second. However, this represents a decline from 2023’s staggering 10.09 crore orders – a drop of approximately 95 lakh orders year-over-year. Despite being a long-time favorite in Indian food culture, pizza didn’t perform as well this year. However, it still ranked second on the list of the most-ordered food items on Zomato. The number of pizza orders on Zomato dropped from 74.53 crore in 2023 to 58.45 crore in 2024, a significant decline of over 20 percent.
