Gamers To Benefit! Jio’s 26 GHz 5G Hits 21 States And UTs! How Will It Improve Your Speed And Device Performance?

The 26 GHz band is not entirely new to the 5G ecosystem; it belongs to the millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum, known for its ultra-fast data transmission and reduced latency. However, the trade-off is its limited range, which requires dense networks of base stations to be effective.

Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom operator, has now launched 5G in 26 GHz band. The service will be available to 21 States and Union territories of India. Currently, Jio’s 5G in the 3.3 GHz band is available in every telecom circle. The telecom’s use of 26 GHz band will add more perks to its customers. Here’s a list of states where Jio has rolled out the 26 GHz band. You can also find the advantages of this down.

What Is a 26 GHz Band?

The 26 GHz band is not entirely new to the 5G ecosystem; it belongs to the millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum, known for its ultra-fast data transmission and reduced latency. However, the trade-off is its limited range, which requires dense networks of base stations to be effective. Due to these constraints, businesses primarily use mmWave for enterprise-level applications, rather than everyday consumers.

In summary, while the mmWave (26 GHz) band offers fast speeds, it is costly and requires a denser network infrastructure, making it more suitable for enterprise use rather than general consumer use, which is well-supported by the 3.3 GHz or C-band.

Advantages Of 26 GHZ Band

  • Faster internet speed, improved network capabilities compared to 4G, through the next-generation 5G technology
  • High-frequency waves that allow for faster data transmission and lower latency (quicker response times)
  • Makes it ideal for high-demand applications like virtual reality, augmented reality, gaming, and streaming
  • Helps avoid network congestion, especially in urban areas with a high number of users

Shortcomings Of 26 GHz Band

Higher the frequency, the more easily it is blocked by physical obstacles like buildings or trees

This means more infrastructure (like small cells or towers) is required to ensure wide coverage

Limited penetration: Signals in the 26 GHz band don’t penetrate walls and other obstructions as effectively as lower-frequency bands

Comparing 26 GHz Band And 3.3 GHz Or C-band

26 GHz band enhances Jio’s 5G network. If we compare the new launch with 3.3 GHz or C-band, C-band is of a lower frequency bands than the 26GHz band. The new launch will offer significantly faster data speeds, lower latency, and improved network capacity. Additionally, the speeds potentially reach up to 10 Gbps and latency reduced to as low as 1 millisecond. This provides a seamless experience for high-demand applications like augmented reality, virtual reality, and ultra-high-definition streaming.

If you are a potential gamer, or wishes to pursue a degree in gaming, the new switch of Jio will enhance your career.

Advantages For Gamers

Games like Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite, need high speed internet and low latency. To become a professional in gaming, it is essential to have reduced ping times and faster loading speeds. The new 26 GHz band will ensure the gamers that the graphics are rendered smoothly, buffering time is reduced, and most importantly it minimise lagging during all critical moments in online multiplayer games, which will offer an edge for competitive players.
