Smart Sweepers For A Smart City

While his post reflects the state government’s move towards providing better civic amenities, what sets it apart is the increasing focus on sustainable and technology-driven urban development. The Roots Road Sweeper used on Bengaluru roads is not an ordinary machinery, but exclusively a ‘Made in India’ product. Shivakumar highlighted that this Indian innovation is already working in more than 40 countries. The machine has high-performance brooms and modern dust and dirt removal systems: water jets for dust control and smart suction technology. He has hailed Roots Road Sweeper as a world-class solution for problems of a world-class city like Bengaluru.

These sweeper machines can clean roads and congested areas with agility. They are cost-effective and easy to maintain. The main advantage is that these sweepers provide a deeper and more thorough cleaning than labour-intensive methods. Furthermore, their mobility allows the cleaning of large areas in a fraction of the time.

This indigenous product, easy to use and with effective results, aligns perfectly with the broader ‘Make in India’ initiative and the Karnataka government is taking it forward.
DCM Shivakumar further asserted that his government would deploy additional measures aimed at the city’s cleanliness.
