Panjab University Bans Outsiders After Student’s Murder At Masoom Sharma’s Concert

Following the tragic murder of Panjab University student Aditya Thakur during a concert, the university has banned outsiders from entering its premises.

Panjab University (PU) has introduced a total ban on outsiders entering the campus. University has also directed all its employees and students to wear ID cards around their necks at all times. Also, all vehicles coming to the university will be checked-in properly to avoid any security situation.

This security measure took effect after police identified the main accused, Deepak alias Kancha and Harshu in the murder case of `Aditya Thakur’s case, and are starting to search for them. The District Magistrate has also ordered a magisterial inquiry into that case. The police set up four groups to initiate search operations. The teams consist of personnel from the Sector-11 police station, Crime Branch, Operation Cell and DCC. All are conducting raids in a similar manner in the area.

Aditya Thakur was fatally attacked and murdered at a star night in which Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma was featured. Sources reported that Thakur got involved in an altercation with the assailants, Deepak alias Kancha and Harsh, along with their accomplices. The assault occurred as Thakur walked behind the stage, and the group initiated the attack on Thakur, leaving him severely injured.

So far authorities have arrested four suspects, Sahil, Raghav, Lavish, and Ajay, in the case. The main suspects, Deepak alias Kancha and Harsh, are still at large. Police from the Crime Branch, Operation Cell, DCC, and Sector-11 personnel are ceaselessly conducting raids to locate the main suspects.

District Magistrate has initiated Magisterial Investigation in the killing of Aditya Thakur, a student of Panjab University, who was stabbed to death at a performance of Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma on March 28. The report is expected in 2 weeks. The Magisterial Inquiry will look into all aspects of the incident including security shortcomings and pathways that allowed outsiders onto the campus. Significantly, the level of protest on campus is growing day by day as students express frustration at the lengthy delay of arresting the main accused.
