Punjab: In a remarkable move to bolster the financial independence of women in Punjab, the administration under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has embarked on a series of initiatives aimed at leveling the playing field for women in their professional journeys. As part of these initiatives, the state government is setting a precedent by providing free coaching for government job competitive exams under the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scheme in Amritsar, specifically aimed at young women aspiring for careers in public service. Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO made this heartening announcement recently, signaling a progressive shift towards gender equality in employment.
Women Excel Across All Fronts
During a program held at the District Employment and Business Bureau in Amritsar, Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO proudly highlighted the advances women have made in various sectors today. Whether it’s education, sports, or administration, young women are not just participating but excelling at an unprecedented scale. However, he acknowledged the barriers still existing due to archaic societal norms that hinder women from stepping into the limelight. He lauded the discipline and dedication displayed by women in professional settings, mentioning with pride that the administrative helm in Amritsar district is efficiently steered by women, including the Deputy Commissioner, two Additional Commissioners, and two Assistant Commissioners.
“Never Give Up”
The event was also an opportunity for Minister Singh ETO to offer words of encouragement to the youth. He urged the attending students to set clear life goals and be unwavering in their pursuit. Understanding the challenges of life, he emphasized that failure should not dishearten them but should serve as a stepping stone to further determination and resolve in achieving success.
Unlocking Opportunities With Free Coaching
Sakshi Sahni, the Deputy Commissioner, was instrumental in conveying details about the new initiative during the event. She announced that under the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” scheme, a third batch has been launched with the goal of preparing young women for government jobs via free coaching classes. This batch has successfully enrolled 90 girls, following a rigorous selection process involving 1,050 applicants and a competitive test involving 400 candidates. Those selected will benefit from a comprehensive six-month training, featuring daily sessions split between two-hour morning and evening batches.
The coaching will cover all essential study materials and support necessary to navigate the competitive exams. The initiative is an emblem of hope, dedication, and a commitment to facilitating access to employment opportunities for women, thereby setting them on a path to economic and personal empowerment.
