In a recent event, Punjab’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, announced a series of initiatives aimed at catapulting Punjab’s industrial capabilities to new heights. Minister Sond expressed his optimism over Punjab’s progressive industrial policies, emphasizing that the state’s industrial areas are poised for exponential growth. Envisioning a Punjab where industries thrive, the Minister reiterated the administration’s dedication to making this vision a reality, ensuring that every policy and strategy firmly supports industrial progress. A remarkable figure hovers around Punjab’s recent advancements – an investment of over 86,000 crore rupees. During a seminar hosted by Vikramjit Singh Sahni, the leader of the World Punjabi Organisation, Minister Sond outlined plans for continuously updating the state’s industrial policy to sustain and accelerate this growth trajectory.
On the tech front, the Punjab government is poised to roll out a groundbreaking Information Technology (IT) policy. This initiative promises to transform Mohali into North India’s premier IT hub, unlocking employment opportunities for approximately 55,000 IT professionals. Such ambitious plans are set to drive Mohali to the forefront of technological innovation in the country.

Proposal To Develop 5 Cities As Role Models
Paving stones for progress are laid as Punjab’s administration works diligently on improving industrial focal points. The vision involves developing five cities as model centers of excellence, thereby strengthening Punjab’s presence on the national industrial map. This effort caters to demands from industrialists who have sought superior infrastructure and facilities to bolster their operations.
While fostering industrial growth, Punjab also seeks to rejuvenate its tourism industry. Minister Sond, who also oversees the tourism and cultural affairs department, stressed the need to enhance and diversify attractions beyond religious tourism. Strategies to promote agritourism are also being cultivated, ensuring that all sectors benefit from the rising economic tide.
Transformational plans, such as the revitalization of the Ludhiana Buddha Nala, are also in their final stages, promising to rejuvenate local ecosystems and provide cleaner and more habitable cities. Earlier, School Education, Technical Education and Industrial Training and Information and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that new courses are being introduced in technical education as per the demand of the industries. He said that many courses are currently running in Punjab to give certification to skilled workers.
He thanked RS member Vikramjit Singh Sahni for preparing the blueprint of Punjab Vision 2047 and said that such programs are very important keeping the future in mind.
