New Delhi: Delhi High Court has given a major setback for the Aam Aadmi party on Saturday. The High Court stayed the re-election of the members of the MCD Standing Committee.
These elections were scheduled to be held on 27 February. Court has sent notices to LG’s office, MCD, and the office of newly elected mayor Shelly Oberoi.

The court has given special instructions to officials that the ballot paper of the previous poll, CCTV, and other available items should be kept safely. The court has fixed the next hearing on February 27.

After the intense disruption on Friday in the civic body house, the House was adjourned till the elections, which were scheduled to be held on February 27. Newly elected Mayor Shelly had said that the re-election would be held on February 27. The BJP councillors opposed re-election, following which they filed an application to the Delhi High Court. The BJP has demanded that the entire matter should be investigated by the CBI.
BJP corporators including Shikha Roy and Kamaljeet Sehrawat applied to the Delhi High Court alleging malfunctioning in the election of the members of the Standing Committee. They alleged that during the election, the newly elected mayor Shelly Oberoi declared a vote invalid. Which was opposed by the BJP. Thai led to a fierce uproar between AAP and BJP corporators.
