Delhi Weather Forecast: Gradual Rise In Temperature This Week, Heatwave Alert Issued

Delhi is experiencing a gradual rise in temperature this week, with current conditions showing a temperature of 27°C (81°F) and mist in the morning.

Delhi-NCR is likely to see continued heat for the week ahead, as temperatures rise further, in the form of max temperatures rising over the next week by 2-3 degrees until 18 April. Now, a Western Disturbance that is approaching the region may change these conditions and bring some little relief with temperatures dropping by 2-4 degrees from 19 April onwards.

Some isolated parts of Delhi will see heatwave conditions particularly in the middle of the week. Daytime temperatures will remain in the range of 39 degrees to 41 degrees and for minimum night temperatures will average 23 degrees to 25 degrees. There will be clear skies changing to partly cloudy, and warm winds. Residents are being alerted to take continuously necessary heat precautions as the heat spell continues.

Delhi-NCR Weather

Gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 02-03°C likely till 18th April. Under the influence of a Western Disturbance, maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-4°C from 19th April onwards.

Delhi Heatwave

Delhi is expected to begin the day on April 17 under mainly clear skies which will start becoming partly cloudy by the evening. Heatwave conditions are predicted to prevail in isolated regions. Maximum temperatures will remain in the high range of 39°C to 40°C and minimums between 23°C to 25°C.

Precautionary Measures

1. Avoid going out in the sun, especially between 12.00 noon and 3.00 p.m.

2. Drink sufficient water and as often as possible, even if not thirsty

3. Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose, and porous cotton clothes. Use protective goggles, umbrella/hat, shoes or chappals while going out in the sun.

4. Avoid strenuous activities when the outside temperature is high. Avoid working outside between 12 noon and 3 p.m.

5. While travelling, carry water with you.

Past Weather

There has been no large change in minimum temperatures and in maximum temperatures over Delhi during the past 24 hours. The Maximum and Minimum temperatures are in the range of 38 to 39°C and 22 to 25°C respectively. The minimum temperatures were above normal by 2-3°C and maximum temperatures are above normal by 1-2°C over most places over Delhi. Mainly clear sky. South easterly winds speed up to 11 kmph prevailed over Delhi during the past 24 hours.
