New Delhi: South Delhi will face traffic blockages on Tuesday due to the Jagannath Rath Yatra at the Shree Jagannath temple in Hauz Khas Village. To ensure smoothness, Delhi traffic police will enforce traffic diversion between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Two Yatras will be held at approximately 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., one from the Hauz Khas Temple and one from Thyagraj Nagar, respectively. The main roadways surrounding the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would be closed for four to five hours, according to officials.

The official told, “Keeping in view a large gathering on this occasion, there will be traffic regulation on both carriageways of Aurobindo Marg from the IIT flyover, Outer Ring Road and AIIMS. People heading to railway stations, airports, and hospitals are advised to take alternate routes to avoid delay.”

Areas on which the procession will be carried out

Aurobindo Marg, both carriageways between the IIT flyover and AIIMS Loop, Balbir Saxena Marg, Chaudhary Dilip Singh Marg, Chaudhary Hukum Chand Marg, Gautam Nagar Road, Barapullah Road, and the route between Thyagaraj Stadium and INA Market.

Alternative roads

Vehicles travelling from Mehrauli and Gurgaon to New Delhi through Aurobindo Marg have been advised to take the Outer Ring Road and then the August Kranti Marg from Panchsheel flyover or Africa Avenue Road.

Travellers from New Delhi, Mehrauli, and Gurgaon can use the Ring Road from the AIIMS flyover and the right turn from the Andrews Ganj flyover to reach their location.

The second yatra will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Shri Jagannath Temple near Thyagraj Stadium and will travel along Shri Jagannath Marg, Chandulal Valmiki Marg, and Pandit Bhagwan Sahay Vats Vithi.

There will be no parking along the procession path. For a smooth journey, police advised passengers to take public transit.
