Nightmare On Expressway: 4 Doctors, Technician Killed In Horrific Collision On Agra-Lucknow Highway

A devastating accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway early Wednesday morning resulted in the deaths of four doctors and a laboratory technician, all associated with the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences.

Five doctors including a lab technician died while a post-graduate student sustained injuries in a road accident on the Agra-Lucknow expressway on Wednesday morning.

Police said that the deceased have been identified as Dr. Anirudh Verma (29) from Agra, Dr. Santosh Kumar Maurya (46) from Bhadohi, Dr. Arun Kumar (34) from Kannauj, Dr. Nardev (35) from Bareilly, and laboratory technician Rakesh Kumar (38). They were postgraduate trainees at the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai.

Investigation revealed that they were returning from a wedding in Lucknow when their vehicle, a Scorpio SUV, lost control and crashed into a divider.

A postgraduate student was critically injured and rushed to the hospital. The accident occurred around 3 am, when the SUV hit the median divider. It then crossed into the opposite lane, where it was struck by a truck.

Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand confirmed that the four doctors and the laboratory technician died at the scene, while the injured student was taken to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Medical College in Tirwa for treatment.
