Wait of students nationwide has ended with declaration of Class XII results by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Students can check their results on CBSE’s official website, cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in and results.cbse.nic.in — by logging in with their roll number, admit card ID, school code, and date of birth.
Students need to score 33 percent marks in theory and practical subjects in order to pass the exam. Such candidates who sit for nearly a point or two above the minimum passing score may qualify for grace marks.
CBSE introduced under the new 2024-25 academic calendar ‘relative grading’ system to reduce the stress from academics.
In the past, mark boundaries were fixed (for example, A1 for 91-100 and A2 for 81-90), and students were then given grades, whereas the new system calculates student grades with regard to how well they performed as compared to other students in their group.
Under this system, grading is linked to a student’s rank within those who pass a given subject, and the rank from one subject to the next may vary depending on the total number of students who have passed a subject. Over 42 lakh students appeared for the examinations held from February 15 to April 4 this year. Class 10 board students took their exams on March 18 and Class 12 exams concluded on April 4.
