It was November 2007 when Shah Rukh Khan, already a huge star, introduced Deepika Padukone to Bollywood in the hit film Om Shanti Om, where she played both the elegant Shanti Priya and the lively Sandy. That movie launched her career and since then, Deepika has become a global star.
Now, things have come full circle. Deepika is such a big star that she’s been chosen to support her mentor Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, in her big film debut. The movie, called King, will also star SRK. It was first supposed to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, but now it’s being directed by Siddharth Anand, known for Pathaan (2023) and Fighter (2024).

According to a report by Peeping Moon, Deepika Padukone will play the role of Suhana Khan’s mother in the upcoming movie King. This comes shortly after she played Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Jawan (2023), Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva (2022), and even the mother of Kalki in Kalki 2898 AD (2024), starring Prabhas.
That’s a lot of mom roles one after the other for the superstar, who is also a new mom in real life to baby Dua Padukone Singh. Fans online, however, are not too happy with this trend of casting Deepika in so many motherly roles so soon.

Many fans are confused and upset about Deepika Padukone taking on so many mother roles in a row. They feel she is being typecast and not choosing strong or fresh roles. People are also reacting to the news of her playing Suhana Khan’s mother in King after already playing Shah Rukh Khan’s and Ranbir Kapoor’s moms in other films.
