Paresh Rawal, who is known for his iconic role as Baburao in the Hera Pheri series, confirmed that Kartik Aaryan was originally cast for the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3. However, the actor clarified that Kartik was never meant to replace Akshay Kumar’s character, Raju. Paresh shared that Kartik’s character was different from Raju, as the story of the film was initially written in a different way.
According to Paresh, the current version of the film has undergone significant changes, and as a result, Kartik is no longer a part of the project.
Paresh Rawal Reflects On Phir Hera Pheri
Paresh Rawal also discussed the challenges faced during the making of Phir Hera Pheri. The actor pointed out that while he did not become overconfident, others involved with the film did, leading to a loss of the original charm and simplicity of the first part. Paresh expressed that the sequel overstuffed the story with unnecessary sequences, which detracted from its comedic value.
He noted that simplicity was key to the success of the first Hera Pheri and warned that trying to complicate things could spoil the magic of the film.

Talking about his character, Baburao, Paresh Rawal emphasised how valuable and beloved the character is among fans. He stated that Baburao holds an immense goodwill, worth Rs. 500 crore, and that simply reusing the character in a different setting with altered jokes wouldn’t do justice to the audience’s expectations. Paresh expressed that fans are eager to see Baburao embark on a fresh journey, one that offers something new rather than recycling old material.
Paresh Rawal’s Upcoming Projects
Looking ahead, Paresh Rawal has an exciting slate of projects. He will be seen alongside Akshay Kumar and Tabu in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, set to release in 2026. Additionally, Paresh will feature in the multi-starrer Welcome to the Jungle, sharing the screen with stars like Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, and Jacqueline Fernandez.
