Renowned actor Ronit Roy known for the show ‘Adaalat’ on Sony TV has recently revealed the darkest phase of his life when he struggled to even afford food. The actor who later became one of the highest-paid stars in the television industry shared how financial difficulties and lack of work led him to start a security agency out of need and desperation.
In a recent interview on Podcast Red Carpet, Ronit Roy recalled his struggle years, revealing that he was once so broke that he had no money to even have food. He said: “Every great step I have taken in my life has come out of desperation, frustration, and poverty. My debut film was a silver jubilee hit, yet I got no work after that. In today’s time, that would be like delivering a Rs.100-150 crore film. I had rent to pay, I needed food- what would you do without money?”

Alcoholism Took Over Ronit Roy
The Adaalat actor also shared that the struggle took a toll on his mental health and so he started having alcohol. He shared, “My alcoholism started out of frustration. I would wake up at noon with a hangover, which only made things worse. People in the industry wrote me off, saying I was finished.
How Security Agency Started
He said during this difficult time of my life, a friend suggested that he should use his name and face to start a business and that’s when he decided to open a security agency. He said: “My friend had a security agency. He advised me to train and use my name to build something. That’s where it all started-from desperation.”
Despite these struggles, Ronit eventually rebuilt his career with hit television shows like Adaalat and Bandini and later starred in Bollywood films such as Student of the Year, Shootout at Wadala, and Kaabil.
