Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone graced the inaugural day of the WAVES summit, that was held in Mumbai. The actors had a heartfelt talk where they reflected on their careers and the journey in the film industry. The show was hosted by the renowned filmmaker, Karan Johar.
Deepika and Shah Rukh Khan have come a long way in their careers. They first shared the screen togethor in the 2007 film Om Shanti Om. Since then, they have seen together in so many films, including Chennai Express, Pathaan and Jawan. Their on-screen chemistry and glamour made them audience’s favorite couple.
During the show, which was named ‘The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler’, Shah Rukh urged to have more room for Indian films and cheaper tickets.
Khan said, “I still believe the call of the day is a lot more theatres, small theatres in small towns, cheaper theatres so that we can show more films to people in every corner of the country.”
Shah Rukh remarked that he does not overthink or overwork. He also added that he was a little brash and also ‘gutsy’. He said, “I believe when I was brash, overconfident, reckless, and a lot more stupid. I’m happy I was like this otherwise, I wouldn’t have chosen the path I did with such wonderful people. I was a little gutsy also. Thank you, young Shah Rukh Khan, for being so cool.”
In the course of the show, Deepika Padukone reflected on her 18-year-long journey in the film Industry. She shared, “Today, when I look back at the journey… For an 18-year-old to move to a big city… It was a big decision to make. Those little things, having to navigate life with trial and error. Overall, when I look back, I say not bad, well done.”
“I am actually going to tell myself I have done pretty well. You don’t really sit back and look at the journey. I don’t celebrate the moments too much. I look at things in a straightforward way,” Deepika added.
Shah Rukh praised her fellow actor, saying that her ‘best role’ will be that of a great mother of her daughter Dua. He said, “The role she is going to play the best, is that of a mother, to Dua. She is really going to be a wonderful mom,”
Deepika married to actor Ranveer Singh in 2018 and they have a daugher named Dua.
After the success of Jawan, SRK and Deepika will reportedly team up in the upcoming film King. Even though it is not confirmed but fans are eager to see them together onscreen.
