Aadhaar Hits 2.25 Billion Authentications, 430 Million E-KYC Transactions In February

The growing reliance on Aadhaar-based verification underscores its expanding role in banking, finance, and other sectors, contributing to smoother, more secure, and efficient processes.

Aadhaar continues to be a key driver of India’s digital transformation, with nearly 225 crore authentication transactions and 43 crore e-KYC transactions recorded in February 2025 alone, according to an official release issued on Friday.

In February 2025, the total number of e-KYC transactions (42.89 crore) was approximately 14 per cent higher than the figures recorded during the same period last year.

“Aadhaar e-KYC service continues to play a crucial role in both banking and non-banking financial services by enhancing transparency, improving customer experience, and promoting ease of doing business,” the release stated.

By the end of February 2025, Aadhaar authentication transactions had surpassed 14,555 crore, while total e-KYC transactions crossed 2,311 crore.

The release also highlighted the growing traction of Aadhaar face authentication transactions. In February, 12.54 crore Aadhaar face authentication transactions were recorded—marking the highest monthly total since this authentication method was introduced in October 2021.

“So far, 97 entities have onboarded to utilize face authentication. Kotak Mahindra Prime Ltd, PhonePe, Karur Vysya Bank, and J&K Bank are the latest entrants to adopt this technology,” the statement noted.

Cumulatively, face authentication transactions have surpassed 115 crore since its introduction. Out of these, nearly 87 crore transactions were conducted in the current financial year alone.
