The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has put pressure on the newly sworn-in BJP government in Delhi, urging them to fulfill their promise made during the election campaign of providing Rs 2500 per month to women in Delhi. Senior AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister, Atishi, called on the BJP to live up to its commitment and pass the scheme in the first Cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday evening.
Atishi emphasized that Delhi women have been eagerly awaiting the Rs 2500 to be credited to their accounts by the BJP government by March 8. During the election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all BJP leaders, including the newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, had promised that the scheme to give Rs 2500 per month to Delhi women would be passed in the first Cabinet meeting after their government took charge.
Atishi congratulated Rekha Gupta and her entire Cabinet on taking the oath, noting that Delhi now has its fourth female Chief Minister, which is a significant moment for women in the city. She expressed hope that, as a woman, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta would ensure that BJP keeps its promises made to Delhi women.
During the election campaign, Prime Minister Modi, BJP leaders, and Rekha Gupta herself had assured Delhi women that they would receive Rs 2500 per month directly in their bank accounts. They had clearly stated that as soon as the BJP government took office, the scheme would be approved in the first Cabinet meeting and that the first installment would be credited to women’s accounts by March 8.
Atishi further recalled that Prime Minister Modi had even urged women during a rally to link their phones to their bank accounts so they would receive an SMS notification when the Rs 2500 is credited. With the swearing-in of the new government and Rekha Gupta assuming office, Atishi stressed that the first Cabinet meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. today.
Atishi, on behalf of all Delhi women, urged Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the BJP government to fulfill their promise in today’s Cabinet meeting. She called for the Rs 2500 per month scheme to be passed, as promised by the BJP, Prime Minister Modi, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
She concluded by stating that all Delhi women are waiting for the Cabinet meeting to approve the scheme and ensure the Rs 2500 is credited to their accounts by March 8, as promised. Atishi expressed her expectation that the BJP and the new Chief Minister would honor their commitment in today’s Cabinet meeting.
