Army Chief Reviews Security Measures In Kashmir Amidst Ongoing Terror Threats

General Dwivedi evaluated preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, emphasizing the importance of robust security arrangements to ensure the safety of pilgrims.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi conducted a comprehensive review of the security grid in Kashmir Valley. This assessment follows the recent Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam last month that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, predominantly tourists.

During his visit, General Dwivedi evaluated preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, emphasizing the importance of robust security arrangements to ensure the safety of pilgrims. The Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG-PI) reported that the Army chief was briefed on current operational dynamics and the broader strategic landscape. He witnessed a demonstration showcasing the integration of advanced technologies into military operations, aimed at enhancing decision-making, surveillance, and response capabilities.

“The COAS lauded all ranks of Chinar Corps for their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and stability through decisive counter-terror operations and initiatives focused on regional development,” stated the ADG-PI. The Army chief received detailed updates from the Chinar Corps Commander and other senior officers regarding the present security situation in Kashmir, including insights into the number of terrorists operating in the valley, who are reportedly under significant pressure and primarily hiding in forested areas.

General Dwivedi emphasized the use of modern technology in counter-terrorism efforts, including an anti-infiltration grid along the Line of Control (LoC). He was informed about the deployment of advanced surveillance devices to prevent terrorist infiltration into Kashmir, alongside continuous patrolling efforts in sensitive areas.

In a related development, Baramulla police have made significant strides in curbing anti-national activities with the arrest of an individual in Pattan. During a targeted search operation at the residence of Mohammad Maqbool Dar, also known as Javaid Dar, authorities recovered incriminating materials, including posters linked to the banned JK National Front and 20 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition. The police have invoked multiple legal provisions in connection with this case and are conducting further investigations.
