New Delhi: The majority of road accidents on expressways and highways are attributed to overspeeding. To address this issue, the Bengaluru Police Department has formulated a plan aimed at curbing overspeeding on the Bangaluru-Mysore Expressway. Under this scheme, if a vehicle exceeds 100 kilometres per hour, the fine will be deducted directly from its Fastag account. Currently, the collected fines do not directly go to the government’s account, but with the new scheme, both the fine and Fastag money will be transferred directly to the government.

As per the information, Alok Kumar, Additional Director of Road Safety and Traffic, informed NHAI that in such cases, money should be directly deducted from Fasteg to ensure that the fine amount is transferred directly to the government’s account. Currently, fines do not go directly to the government’s account, but with the new scheme, both the fine and Fasteg money will be directed to the government’s account. Thousands of people from Noida, NCR, and Ghaziabad travel on the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway.

The proposal by the Bangalore Police aims to reduce the number of overspeeding vehicles on the expressway. They have set the maximum speed limit at 100 km per hour, and if a vehicle exceeds this limit despite the warning, a challan of ₹1000 will be deducted. This measure is expected to decrease the number of road accidents and fatalities on the expressway.
