Karnataka Assembly Polls: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran KS Eshwarappa Monday questioned former collegue and Congress leader Jagadish Shettar over his reactions if the grand-old party withdraws the anti-conversion law and the anti-cow slaughter law.
Lashing out at former CM Shettar, Eshwarappa wrote in the letter, “…Congress may have given you a ticket but you will not win on the ground of struggle. If Congress comes to power, they said, they will withdraw the Cow Slaughter Bill. Who will you support then?…”
The BJP leader claimed that the Congress leaders DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have promised to lift the ban imposed on a Islamic group called the Popular Front of India (PFI), which was declared prohibited by the BJP-ruled government.
He asked, “DK Shivakumar & Siddaramaiah said that they will withdraw the ban on PFI if they come to power. So you support terrorism?”

Eshwarappa carried on to put Shettar in hypothetical situation as to what will he answer to his grnadsons in future and his late father, who was also a BJP’s veteran leader, on joining Congress.
“Ask that…Will your father’s soul in heaven rest in peace with the addition of Congress? You have done so much for BJP. What would you say if your grandson asks why you joined Congress? You should apologize and come back to the party that saved religion and principles. You can come back soon,” read the letter.

Eshwarappa mentioned about the call recieved by the party High Command who asked them to retire from electoral politics. He said, “I sent my letter resigning from poll politics within 10 minutes of receiving the call. Later, I called Mr Shettar, who had also received a similar call. I did not expect that he would join the Congress.”
