Car Enters Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway From Wrong Side, Resulting In Horrific Crash; 6 Dead

A tragic collision occurred on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway near Kadwanchi village in Jalna district, resulting in six deaths and four injuries.

Last night, a tragic collision between two cars on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, also known as Samruddhi Mahamarg, near Kadwanchi village on Samruddhi Highway in Jalna district, nearly 400 km from Mumbai, resulted in the deaths of at least six people and left four others injured.

The incident occurred around 11 pm when a Swift Dzire, entering the highway from the opposite direction after refuelling on Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, collided with an Ertiga traveling from Nagpur to Mumbai.

The collision was so severe that the Ertiga was thrown into the air, landing on the highway barricade, and passengers were ejected from the vehicle, landing on the road. The other car was left severely damaged, twisted into a mangled heap of metal.

Six individuals tragically lost their lives at the scene, and visuals depicted their bloodied bodies strewn on the highway.

Upon receiving notification of the accident, the Samruddhi Highway Police and Jalna Police swiftly arrived at the scene. They promptly utilized a crane to remove the vehicles involved. The injured individuals have been referred to the district hospital for medical treatment.

The Samruddhi Mahamarg is a partially operational, six-lane, 701-km-long access-controlled expressway in Maharashtra. It stands as one of the country’s longest greenfield road projects, linking Mumbai with Nagpur, the state’s third-largest city.
