New Delhi: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief S Somnath said on Wednesday that the much-awaited lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 would be launched between July 12 and 19.
Somnath said that all major tests had been done and the actual date of launch would be announced in a few days, while sources said that the rocket will be launched on July 13 at 2:30 pm.
ISRO Chief assured that what happened with Vikram Lander during Chandrayaan’s landing in 2019, would not happen this time, the technology has changed.
Only Lander and Rover will be sent
ISRO chief expressed his hope for the success of the upcoming mission. He said that with the Chandrayaan-3 mission, our understanding of the moon would be deeper. In the Chndrayan-3 mission, ISRO will send only Lander and Rover, it will not have an orbiter, he said further.
S Somnath said “The contact of the lander and the rover will be linked to the orbiter of Chandrayaan-2 orbiting the moon. Many sensors have been installed in it, which will help in safe landing.”
Chandrayaan-3 has such instruments which will study the moon based on the light and heat of minerals. Through this, chemical and natural elements, soil and water available on the surface of the moon will be detected. It will help to check thermal conductivity and temperature also.
