While taking to media Bhoj Raj Singh explained how buffalo urine is more effective than cow urine and said, “Statistical analysis of 73 urine samples of cow, buffaloes and humans suggest that antibacterial activity in buffalo urine was far more superior than cows. The urine of buffalo was significantly more effective on bacteria like S Epidermidis and E Rhapontici.”

He added, “Some people put forth the contention that distilled urine doesn’t have infectious bacteria. We are carrying further research on it.”

In the past, there have been various claims using cow urine. Earlier this year, a session court judge in Gujarat’s Tapi district stated that “cow urine can cure many incurable diseases and cow dung stops radiation. However, according to IVRI research, the presence of Escherichia coli, which can cause stomach disorders, was most frequently discovered in pee samples from healthy cows and bulls. There were at least 14 additional dangerous germs present.

The ICAR-IVRI declaration comes at a time when cow urine has received fresh attention in India as a result of many assertions made regarding the use of cow urine as a disinfectant and in other ways during the COVID-19 pandemic.
