NCW Chairperson has written to the DGP of Tamil Nadu

The NCW Chairperson has written to the DGP of Tamil Nadu urging immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation. The letter stressed the need to ensure the survivor’s safety, constitute an independent investigation team, prevent any political interference, and take prompt action under relevant provisions of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The Commission has also sought a detailed Action Taken Report along with a copy of the FIR within three days.

DMK leader’s wife filed a police complaint

According to reports, DMK youth leader Deivaseyal’s 20-year-old wife filed a police complaint while accusing him of sexual abuse. She alleged that he forced other girls to “sleep with politicians.”

The DMK youth wing issued a statement, saying that Deivaseyal had been removed from his post.

AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami lashed out at police

Meanwhile, AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami lashed out at police for reportedly delaying in registering an FIR into the matter. He asked, “Will the dummy government act against the office bearer?”

Palaniswami said the AIADMK leaders and workers will stage a protest if the government fails to act.

AIADMK National Spokesperson Kovai Sathyan said, “This is a knee-jerk reaction from the DMK. The police, acting like puppets, are trying to water down the issue. There’s a clear pattern — lower-level DMK office bearers exploit innocent women and push them to satisfy the desires of higher-ranking party members. When evidence surfaces, the DMK either disowns the accused, or sacks them without real accountability. In the recent case, the accused is still free, and instead of arresting him, the police are discrediting the victim by questioning her marital status. More disturbingly, the accused is said to have assaulted and threatened the victim, forcing her to share her bed with others, including political associates. She also claimed at least 20 women have suffered similar exploitation. Instead of investigating properly, the police question the victim’s credibility.

“She clearly stated that if the accused’s three phones are checked, more evidence and victims will surface. It is the police’s duty to investigate—not the victim’s… Yet, confidential evidence shared with the police has mysteriously appeared on a DMK IT cell handle, suggesting political interference. This leads to character assassination of the complainant and discourages others from coming forward… Tamil Nadu is increasingly unsafe for women and girls. The administration is failing its people, and we are protesting to demand justice – not just for one girl, but for all the victims being silenced under this regime,” Kovai Sathyan said.
