The Greater Noida Authority has selected 15 sites for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations. In order to kick-off its efforts, a team from the Greater Noida Authority will study cities that have implemented a successful EV charging system. After the study, tenders will be released.
The Uttar Pradesh government is promoting electric vehicles through charging station implementation. As part of this promotion, the Authority has also put together a comprehensive plan for charging station installation. In the initial phase, Greater Noida will see the establishment of 15 charging stations, with 3 charge points for every station.
Senior Manager of the Authority’s Urban Services Department, Manoj Sachan mentioned that construction, maintenance, and operation of the EV charge point will be transferred to a private company. Officials have developed a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the company selection, which will be issued shortly after clearance from higher officials.
As part of this effort, CEO NG Ravi Kumar has asked for a study of cities where EV charging stations work well. The most effective operational model will be defined. According to officials, the charge points will operate under a revenue-share model. The Authority will only provide the land while the company will incur the remaining expenses such as construction. The company which bids the highest will be given responsibility for the operations of the charge point.
Initiatives For E-Bus Operations
The city will soon begin its initiatives to operate electric (E) buses. Charging terminals will be created for the E-buses. A few years from now, it will be relatively easy to charge electric vehicles. The charging network is going to be expanded rapidly, as the roll-out of EVs really takes off.
