Haryana Elections: Dushyant Chautala’s JJP Teams Up With Chandra Shekhar Azad’s Party

Dushyant Chautala and Chandra Shekhar made the announcement in Delhi, pledging to form a “government of the youth” and focus on farmers’ rights.

In a significant pre-poll development, Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Chandra Shekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) have announced an alliance for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 1. Under this arrangement, the JJP will contest 70 out of 90 seats, while the Azad Samaj Party will compete for the remaining 20.

Alliance for Youth and Farmers’ Welfare

Dushyant Chautala and Chandra Shekhar made the announcement in Delhi, pledging to form a “government of the youth” and focus on farmers’ rights. This collaboration aims to challenge the dominance of other major political players in the state.

Challenges for JJP

However, the JJP faces internal challenges, as four of its MLAs recently resigned from party positions, leaving only three legislators, including Dushyant Chautala and his mother Naina Chautala, still active in the party. This is seen as a significant setback ahead of the elections.

BJP and Congress Rivalry

Meanwhile, former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij of the BJP has declared the upcoming election will be a contest between the BJP and Congress, dismissing the influence of regional parties. The BJP had previously formed the government in Haryana in alliance with JJP in 2019 but ended the partnership earlier this year.
