IMD Weather LIVE Updates: Several states will likely experience warm days and mild nights over the next week. At the same time, multiple regions will witness partly cloudy skies along with fresh spells of rain or thundershowers. According to IMD’s latest press release, the Indian subcontinent is expected to witness an early onset of the Southwest Monsoon in 2025.
The Weather Body has predicted light showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Northeast India during the next 7 days. Meanwhile, some regions will be hit by heavy rains, disrupting traffic and livelihoods. The affected places include Arunachal Pradesh (18th- 21st May), Assam & Meghalaya (18th 22nd), Tripura (18th May), Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe (18th-23rd), Interior Karnataka (18th-21st), Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal (17th-20th); Telangana (18th), Rayalaseema (19th), and Lakshadweep (19th & 20th May). Overall, several regions will see a mix of sunshine and clouds with occasional rain during the next week.

Delhi: Delhi is currently experiencing light rain and thunderstorms, providing some temporary relief from the scorching temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, dust-raising winds, and strong surface winds on Sunday, May 18. Despite the rain, the weather remains uncomfortable due to humidity and warm temperatures. Notably, very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm/lightning/dust storms occurred at many places over Delhi on Saturday.
IMD predicted isolated to Scattered light/moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds reaching 30-50 kmph likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar during the next 7 days. Meanwhile, the Weather Body has warned against thundersquall wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph likely over Bihar & Jharkhand on 18th & 19th and Vidarbha & Chhattisgarh during 19th-21st May.
