IMD Weather Update: Heatwave Likely In Multiple States Over Next Three Days; Maximum Temperatures May Hit 42°C

Residents of Tamilnadu Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Rayalaseema are advised to stay hydrated and carry an umbrella as hot and humid weather is likely to prevail until 25th April.

IMD Weather Update: Heat may intensify in the coming few days as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted warm night conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Bihar from 23rd to 26th April. The Met Department noted that the maximum temperature over Odisha, particularly during daytime, is likely to rise by 3-5°C during the next three days. Districts likely to witness 42 degrees Celsius are Angul, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, and Nuapada.

Heat Wave Warning

At the same time, isolated pockets of East Rajasthan will experience heat wave conditions until the 26th of April. The other affected places include Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Haryana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh from 22nd to 25th; Uttar Pradesh during 22nd-26th; Punjab on 23rd, 24th, 25th; Gangetic West Bengal, West Rajasthan from 23rd to 26th; Bihar and Jharkhand on 25th & 26th April.

No Heat Wave In Delhi Till April 26

Delhi is currently reeling experiencing temperatures in the range of 38-39 degrees Celsius. Partly cloudy skies, light rain, dust-storms and surface winds over the past few days have significantly lowered the temperature. However, humidity levels have increased in the national capital. The IMD in its daily bulletin, has further predicted a fall by 2-4°C in maximum temperatures during next 48 hours and rise by 2-3°C thereafter over Delhi. There is no heat wave in Delhi till April 26.

Hot And Humid Weather Warning

Residents of Tamilnadu Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Rayalaseema are advised to stay hydrated and carry an umbrella as hot and humid weather is likely to prevail until 25th April. As a precautionary measure, wear loose, light-colored clothing, and take cool showers as we come close to the end of April. Meanwhile, IMD has predicted similar conditions in Marathawada, Bihar, Jharkhand during 22nd-24th; Konkan & Goa on 22nd & 23rd; Madhya Maharashtra on 24th & 25th
and over Gujarat during 22nd -24th April.
