IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued monsoon activity across several regions of the country on Tuesday, July 22. Several states will experience heavy rainfall as monsoon trough currently passes through Jammu, Chandigarh, Sarsawa, Fatehgarh, Varanasi, Ranchi, Digha. Moreover, an upper air cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan, east-west trough running from north central Karnataka to south Coastal Andhra Pradesh is also influencing the weather system in northern and southern India.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall very likely over most parts of the country except Tamil Nadu where isolated to scattered rainfall is likely.
Heavy Rainfall Alert For Multiple States
On July 22, Northwest India is expected to experience isolated very heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Jammu and Kashmir. Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and West Uttar Pradesh will witness rainfall until July 24.
Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lighting is expected to lash the western Himalayan region through the next seven days.
In West India, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan, Goa, Gujarat and the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra from July 22-27.
For South Peninsular India, the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and Telangana today. Kerala, Mahe, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. Spells of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the region until next seven days. Strong surface winds with speed of 40–50 km/h will also prevail across these states over the next 5 days.
In East and Central India, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha will see continued rainfall activity until July 27.
In Northeast India, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on Tuesday. Heavy rain will lash Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya until July 24.

Weather Forecast For Delhi
Delhi-NCR region will also experience an increased rainfall activity this week. Very light rain is likely to occur over Delhi, with a cloudy sky hovering throughout the day. The maximum temperatures will remain in the range of 32- 34°C.
