IMD Weather Update: More Rain In Store For Tamil Nadu This Week; Cold Wave And Dense Fog Grips Northern States

According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation is likely to cause isolated light to moderate rainfall over Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, & Mahe till the 23rd of January and scattered light to moderate showers over Lakshadweep on 21st January.

IMD Weather Update: South Tamil Nadu experienced very heavy showers and chilly weather on Tuesday, with IMD forecasting more rain in the region until the 23rd of January. Dense fog and rain across North India have also made life difficult for the people.

More rain is in store this week for residents of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh due to western disturbances. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by lightning & thunderstorms in these states on the 22nd and 23rd of January. Rain is also expected to lash the Western Himalayan Region till the 21st, bringing scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall on the 22nd & 23rd of January.

Dense Fog Warning

The Met Body forecasts dense fog conditions to prevail during the night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Rajasthan on the 23rd and 24th of January. Additionally, East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab will also witness similar conditions on 23rd and 24th January. Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha will experience dense fog until tomorrow.

Cold Day Warnings

Himachal Pradesh may witness cold day conditions in isolated pockets till 23rd January.

AQI, Weather Forecast For Delhi

The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded as 319 at 6 am today, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). A thin layer of fog was witnessed in different parts of Delhi/NCR as people struggled to keep up with the cold wave.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts generally cloudy skies over the city on January 22 and 23. There has been a rise in minimum temperature up to 2°C in the national capital during the past 24 hours.
