Jahnavi Dangeti, a 23-year-old from Andhra Pradesh is going to space on an orbital flight with Titans Space as an Astronaut Candidate (ASCAN). Jahnavi is a graduate of Electronics and Communication Engineering and was selected as 1 of 3 selected people to travel in a Titans Space orbital flight that will last five hours. Jahnavi acknowledged the opportunity on Instagram and stated they are so excited and honoured to be part of this experience.
The flight, Titan Space’s first mission, will occur in 2029 with a focus on 3 hours in total zero gravity. Jahnavi said, the flight will provide a uniquely transformative environment for conducting scientific research and advancing human spaceflight.
While on the trip, members of the flight will orbit Earth twice, experiencing two sunrises and two sunsets. The flight will be headed by veteran NASA astronaut and retired US Army Colonel William McArthur Jr., who is currently the Chief Astronaut for Titans Space.
Throughout her career, Jahnavi has consistently engaged in advocacy of STEM and space research. She has trained in zero gravity, high altitude missions, space suite operations and planetary simulations. Jahnavi has also been the first Indian selected for NASA’s International Air and Space Program. For Jahnavi, this mission is an honor to fly under the leadership of someone with such exceptional service.
After she was selected Jahnavi also wrote about the next steps in the training saying that “Over the next three years starting in 2026, I will start astronaut training through Titans Space’s ASCAN program.” This training will result in spacecraft systems, flight simulation, training and medical evaluations.
She thanked Titans Space for this incredible opportunity and is proud to represent her Indian roots. “I am proud to represent my roots and the amazing young dreamers I have met along the way- this mission is for all of us who look up and wonder what is impossible,” Jahnavi wrote in the post.
