Supreme Court Denies Relaxation Of GRAP-4 Restrictions In Delhi NCR, Awaits ‘Downward Trend In AQI’

The Supreme Court mentioned that it will take the call on proposal for relaxation by Commission for Air Quality Management on Thursday that is December 5.

The Supreme Court on Monday denied to remove the restriction implemented under GRAP Stage IV. The Restriction was imposed to Tackle with the air pollution in Delhi.

The Supreme Court mentioned that it will take the call on proposal for relaxation by Commission for Air Quality Management on Thursday that is December 5. The decision came after analyzing the Air Quality Index of the national capital., as per media reports.

The decision came from the bench comprising of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih. According to the bench the rules like ban on truck entry and construction activity were not executed properly.

The national capital experienced a rise in minimum temperature up to 2°C and a slight rise in maximum temperature over Delhi/NCR during the past 24 hours. As per IMD, there will be a clear sky in the Delhi-NCR from Dec 2 to 4.

Overall the Air Quality Index in the national capital was recorded 285 which comes under the poor category.

The Supreme Court found that not a single NCR states-Delhi, Rajasthan, UP and Haryana complied with order to pay reimbursement to the construction workers. The Apex court asked the chief secretaries of the NCR states to appear virtually on Thursday that is December 5.

The bench said that,, there is hardly any implementation of GRAP Stage IV, which was put on to deal with the air quality in the national capital, as per media reports.
