New Delhi: Following a protest by the Opposition leaders, Rajya Sabha was adjourned soon after the proceedings started on Thursday. The Upper House will convene again at 2 PM.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha was adjourned Sine Die on the last day of Budget session of Parliament on Thursday.

Minutes after resuming proceedings at the Rajya Sabha, the Opposition started sloganeering while demanding setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the serious charges against Adani group of companies.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar informed that he recieved six notices under rule 267 to discuss the Centre’s failure to induce JPC for the Adani issue and misuse of autonomous bodies like Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against political opponents.

Tiranga March from Parliament to Vijay Chowk

The Opposition’s protest transitioned to the road of the national capital as leaders of Congress started a Tiranga march from Parliament to Vijay Chowk.

The Congress leader said they are taking out the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ so Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can choose the path of Gandhi and leave the one of Godse.

Talking to reporters, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari pointed out that it is the first time when Parliment could not function properly from the beginning. He accused the Centre of creating a chaos ‘forcefully’ whenever the Opposition tried to speak in the House.

He said, “Democracy is dying… for what? to save corruption? to save Adani? Because if Adani is guilty for looting the nation then, the government is also responsible for letting that happen.”
