Winner of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Celebrity Designer Sweta Parekh recently announced that Season 2 of Maatritava is coming soon and this time the venue is going to be Gujarat. This comes after she established Maatritava Trust this year and is ready to take her noble intiatives to the next level. This transition is a step that was much awaited and the announcement of Season 2 of the Pageant.
Sweta Parekh has been the force behind some of the most revered fashion shows in India. Her first international runway show was the India Fashion Week London. “I am a daughter of India and I believe traditional designs carry a legacy with them. Designs are part of history. It will always stay” said Sweta Parekh during her interaction with the media.
Bollywood Actress Prachi Desai dazzled the evening in a Peacock feather-inspired outfit designed by Parekh and camera shutters were orchestrating when Prachi walked the ramp. The dress was part of her ‘Pattachitra’ collection and had a Peacock feature on Matka Silk, besides intricate Pattachitra paintings on a western gown, a piece that was appreciated by the stalwart designers of the industry.
“I intended to capture the true essence of the local art of Odisha and represent this part of the Indian heritage in London,” she said in that proud moment.
Designer Sweta Parekh believes there are so many things that empower women as entrepreneurs across the world. One of them is that mothers want to empower their daughters because they see their daughters as their own extensions in this world.
Her belief in celebrating the bond of Mother-Daughter relations and the talent that women bring forth, which inspired her journey to the launch of the Maatritava Pageant.
