Australian PM Hosts Team India In Sydney

The caption of the post read, “The Australian and Indian teams have already given us an incredible summer of cricket. When the fifth test starts on Friday, the SCG will be a sea of pink in support of the great work of the McGrath Foundation. Go Australia!”

The IND vs AUS 5th Test will be the 17th pink Test match being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Australian team will walk on the field by wearing pink jerseys and caps to promote awareness against cancer. On the Day 3 of the match, Jane McGrath Day will be celebrated, who was the wife of former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath. Both the individuals co-founded the ‘McGrath Foundation’ in 2005, whose main objective was the collect funds for helping breast care nurses in rural and regional areas of Australia. However, Jane lost her life due to breast cancer in 2008, after which the organisation works to create awareness against Breast Cancer in young women.

Talking about the match, Australia ended up defeating India by 184 runs during the Boxing-Day Test. The Australian team achieved a 2-1 lead in the five-match series and will look to win the New Year’s Test to reclaim the BGT after 2017. On the other hand, Indian team will be under a lot of pressure as skipper Rohit Sharma hasn’t been able to score runs with the bat. His captaincy has come under scrutiny as well and there are reports that he will retire from international cricket after Sydney Test.
