Devon Conway Replaces Finn Allen For Upcoming T20I Tri-Series In Zimbabwe – Here’s Why

The tri-series tournament is to be held from July 14 to July 26 and New Zealand start their campaign on July 16.

New Zealand Cricket has previously named a 15-man squad with the return of seasoned pacers Adam Milne and Matt Henry. But with some players still playing in the MLC, more reinforcements have been brought in. Mitch Hay, Tim Robinson, and James Neesham are added as cover for Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, and Mark Chapman all four of whom are likely to feature in the MLC final, scheduled on Sunday.

“We’re really gutted for Finn,” New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said. “I was looking forward to working with him and to see him continue his form from the MLC but unfortunately injuries happen. We’re lucky to be able to call on someone of Devon’s quality to replace Finn.” as mentioned by Cricbuzz

The tri-series tournament is to be held from July 14 to July 26 and New Zealand start their campaign on July 16. The addition of Conway brings stability and maturity to the Kiwi top order, particularly with Allen’s explosive ability now absent.

Conway, who was last seen in international cricket in the first half of the year, is likely to fit right back into the XI. His versatility across formats and form of late in franchise cricket also make him an invaluable resource for New Zealand, particularly in a series which can act as preparation for possible future ICC events.
