KKR Vs PBKS: Sunil Gavaskar Issues BIG Warning For KKR, Highlights Shreyas Iyer Being In Full Revenge Mode, Says ‘Not Being Retained Will…’

In the last PBKS vs KKR match, Shreyas Iyer has already made a bold statement this season by steering Punjab to a historic victory against his old team, defending a modest total of 111 in Mullanpur.

Sunil Gavaskar feels that Shreyas Iyer will be very encouraged to play when he will get back to Eden Gardens on Saturday, April 26, for the KKR vs PBKS encounter. Iyer, who led KKR to their IPL championship victory in the previous season, was surprisingly not retained by the franchise before the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Iyer has already made a bold statement this season by steering Punjab to a historic victory against his old team, defending a modest total of 111 in Mullanpur.

Sunil Gavaskar Not Happy With KKR’s Decision To Let Go Of Iyer

Talking to official broadcasters, Gavaskar explained that the decision by KKR to drop Iyer would have made sense had his form gone off. But since he was part of the team that won a championship, the move would have come as a shock. The Indian cricket great said being dropped from the winning side is never simple, and Iyer would surely have a point or a few to prove while playing against his previous teammates this weekend.

“Shreyas Iyer Will Be Fired Up” Says Gavaskar

“He will be fired up. And if he had been, you know, I’ve been out of form, if they had not done well, then one could understand. But the captain of a winning team not being retained will hurt. No question about it, that will hurt. Now he’s got, he went for much, much more to PBKS, which is fine. That would have given him a little bit of consolation, but nobody wants to be left out, and that is the thing. So clearly, I think he will have a point to prove. Or maybe half a dozen points to prove,” said Gavaskar.
