MI Vs DC: Huge Rain Threat Looms! DC Owner Demands Change In Venue – What Happens If There Is A Washout?

The Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals match is extremely crucial for both the teams as today's match will decide which team qualifies for IPL 2025 playoffs.

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be playing against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai and it will be a do or die match for both the teams. Today the fourth team to qualify for playoffs will be decided and the match will be a promising thriller. But disruptions are likely as there are chances of possible washout or constant interruptions in the match. Following this bad weather predictability, Delhi Capitals owner has demanded a change in venue and requested that the match should be moved to another city.

What Happens If There’s A Washout?

If there is a washout, then its the end of road for Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will be through and in the playoffs. In an email accessed by ESPNCricinfo to IPL on Tuesday. Both the teams want to qualify for the playoffs and DC owner Parth Jindal pointed out that “virtual quarter final is also expected to be washed out”.

In case of washout, both the teams will split points following which Mumbai Indians will have 15 points and Delhi Capitals will have 14. This means that Delhi Capitals will not be able to qualify and Mumbai Indians will be through.

Yellow Alert In Mumbai

A yellow alert has been issued in Mumbai for the next four days and this is not a good sign for the match. Jindal’s request came after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match was shifted to Lucknow due to “unfavourable weather conditions” in Bengaluru.

“The forecast in Mumbai is for heavy rains and there is a strong likelihood that the game will be washed out,” he wrote. “Just as the game between RCB vs SRH has been moved out of Bengaluru in the quest for consistency and in the interest of the league it is my request that tomorrow’s game also be moved to a different location as we have known for the better part of 6 days that the forecast for 21st in Mumbai is for heavy showers.” as mentioned by ESPNCricinfo
