Century In The Inaugural Match
Ayush Mhatre played a sensational knock of 102 runs off 115 balls in the first Youth Test match. He was in sublime form for most of his innings. His knock contained 14 fours and 2 sixes. This was a dramatic transformation for Mhatre, as he had not done much well in the Youth ODI tournament, scoring 27 runs in 4 innings against England.
Suryavanshi’s Disappointing Innings
During the ODI series against England, young Vaibhav Suryavanshi performed well and became India’s highest run scorer for the series. But his fate in the longest format of the game did not align with his white ball performance. After smashing 3 consecutive boundaries, he was sent back to the pavilion after slamming 14 runs off just 13 balls in the first innings.
In the meantime, Vihan Malhotra, who finished in third position, contributed a good innings with 67 runs off 99 balls. Due to these performances, India closed on the first day at a commanding position with 217 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
