Following the stampede incident in Bengaluru, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has been criticized heavily. It has been reported that A. Shankar and E.S. Jairam have stepped down as KSCA secretary and Treasurer, respectively. This decision came after they accepted their moral responsibility for the problems during RCB’s IPL victory celebration, which resulted in 11 people losing their lives.

KSCA Wrote To The Government

As per the letter dispatched to the government, KSCA told the government that, if the Royal Challengers Bangalore won the IPL 2025 final on June 3, DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt. Ltd. had agreed to organize the party on the Grand Steps of Vidhana Soudha. DNA Entertainment was asked by KSCA to take care of all the necessary arrangements for the event at the approved site.

FIR Filed Under Pressure

KSCA said in the High Court that its officers were not to blame for the tragedy. The association said in the petition that IPL events are run by RCB through DNA Entertainment Networks and it is only KSCA’s job to offer the venue and facilities. According to them, the FIRs were registered against the association’s members on the police’s initiative, without a necessary inquiry or investigation.

Temporary Relief from High Court

The Karnataka High Court, Justice S.R. Krishna Kumar at the helm, has replied to the plea by putting a hold on any punitive steps against KSCA officials for now. The court told them to fully help the authorities with their investigation. The upcoming hearing on the FIR matter will happen on June 16. It took notice of the accident by itself and asked the government to file a status report, which will be evaluated at a hearing on June 10.
