Novak Djokovic’s bid to win his 8th Wimbledon title on the sacred grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis Club – and a record 25th Grand Slam championship overall – received a huge setback with a humiliating 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 semifinal loss to Jannik Sinner in the Centre Court night match on Friday evening. Victory over the American left Sinner in the final of his home grand slam for the first time and arranged for a rematch of last month’s five-set French Open spectacular, when he had been two sets up but then lost to Carlos Alcaraz after three championship points were saved. Alcaraz is in his third consecutive Wimbledon final and within touching distance of claiming a hat-trick of titles. But no other player has beaten both of these Tennis giants like the Russian star, Daniil Medvedev.

Mendvedev Vs Sinner (Wimbledon 2024)
Russian Tennis Star Daniil Medvedev defeated Jannik Sinner 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3 at Wimbledon last year. This was the single match Medvedev had beaten Sinner since Beijing in 2023. Medvedev began the H2H 6-0 before Sinner took 5 consecutive ones. Daniil Medvedev took revenge on Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon 2024, as he registered an epic 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3 quarter-final victory to end a five-match losing streak to the Italian. Sinner had come back from two sets down to beat Medvedev in the final of the Australian Open earlier that year, before he beat him in straight sets on the way to the championship in Miami.
Medvedev Vs Alcaraz (Wimbledon 2021)
Second seed Daniil Medvedev overpowered some initial resistance from Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz before brutally defeating the young prodigy 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the third round of Wimbledon 2021. The 22-year-old Alcaraz (18 at that point), who has experienced a meteoric rise up the rankings that year to 75th position, got a warm send-off from the Court One crowd after demonstrating his potential and glimpses of his shot-making ability.
Medvedev’s Shocking Exit At Wimbledon 2025
Russian former United States Open winner Daniil Medvedev suffered a surprise first-round loss at Wimbledon to France’s Benjamin Bonzi. Medvedev had reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in the last two years, but the Russian’s attempt at a second good run in the All England Club was ended abruptly on Monday by the world number 64. It was the first time in seven Wimbledon appearances that Medvedev could not get past the first round.
