The Indian cricket team has landed in England for a much-anticipated five-match Test series, with young opener Shubman Gill leading the side. The series is set to begin on June 20, with the first Test taking place at Headingley, Leeds. This marks a new era for Indian Test cricket as the team embarks on this campaign without veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both of whom retired from Test cricket last month.
Their absence raises key questions about the team’s final playing XI, especially who will step up to fill the void left by the two stalwarts. However, skipper Gill remains confident about finalizing a balanced XI ahead of the series opener.

Practice Camp Begins June 8
Team India’s preparations will begin with a training camp starting June 8, allowing players time to acclimatize and fine-tune their skills. Ahead of the Test series, a four-day unofficial match between India A and England Lions is also underway. The first game concluded recently, and the second match began on June 6, featuring the return of KL Rahul, who marked his comeback with a commanding century in the first innings an encouraging sign for the national team.
