India is currently playing the second Test match at Edgbaston, Birmingham. India came out to bat first after losing the toss consecutively for the second time. England captain Ben Stokes invited the visitors with the bat. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul could not provide a great start after the latter’s early dismissal. Apart from Jaiswal’s 87-run knock, none of the batters from the top order could create an impact with the bat. Skipper Shubman Gill’s intent was displayed from the start. He smashed his maiden double century but eventually threw his wicket on 269 runs. Cricket pundits have been creating theories related to former Test captain Virat Kohli, whose Test cap number is 269.

Virat Kohli At Top
While Gill smashed his maiden Test double in Edgbaston and joined the elite club of legends like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Ravi Shastri and many more, Virat Kohli stands at the top position of the podium with 7 double tons in the longest format of the game bypasssing cricekting legends like Sachin Tendulkar(6) and Sunil Gavaskar(4).
Jaiswal-Jadeja’s Contribution
India wrapped up its innings at 587 runs, with Gill emerging as the conductor of the innings. Apart from Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and world number 1 all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave a good hand with the bat. Jaiswal stuck to the crease after the early dismissal of the fellow opener KL Rahul on just 2 runs and smashed 87 runs. Ravindra Jadeja came out at a crucial moment when India was struggling with the continuous loss of wickets and built a potential partnership of over 200 runs with the skipper, where the former slammed 89 runs.
India is currently at the dominance of the innings by sending half the team back to the pavilion. Siraj and Akash Deep have been bowling brilliantly and have led the Indian bowling charge from the front.
