The former Indian great Virender Sehwag has given an advice to the young RR star Vaibhav Suryavanshi to stay grounded. The youngest IPL star debuted in the RR’s match against LSG in which he scored 34 runs in 20 balls and played his second game for RR yesterday in which he scored 16 runs in 12 balls.
What Advice Did Sehwag Give To Vaibhav?
“If you step out knowing that you will get praised for doing well, and criticized for not doing well, you will remain grounded. I have seen many players who come, get fame from one or two matches, then they do not do anything, because they think that they have become a star player,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“Suryavanshi must aim for playing 20 years in the IPL. Look at Virat Kohli, he started playing when he was 19 years old, now he has played all 18 seasons. That is what he should be trying to emulate. But, if If he is happy with this IPL, thinking that he is now a crorepati, had a great debut, hit a six off the first ball, maybe we won’t see him next year,” he added.
Why Did He Gave Such Advice
Sehwag gave this kind of advice to Vaibhav as he is just 14 years old and is already playing in IPL and also getting a lot of praises. He wants this young talent to play for the next 20 years in IPL and not face a down fall like some young stars who get praise in their initial games and then they stop working on themselves as they think they have become a star players. Till now Vaibhav has played two matches for RR in which he has scored 34 runs against LSG and 16 runs against RCB. Prior to the IPL 2025 auction, the RR invited Vaibhav for trials in Nagpur, where the talented young player impressed everyone. As a result, RR purchased him for 1.10 crore with his base price being 30 lakhs.
