And Now Comes The AI-Based Roti Checker! What’s Your ‘Roti’ Score? Here’s How It Works

The user shared her round roti with a caption "Gol roti banana bhi ek art hai."

From grammar checks to plagiarism detection, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a one-stop solution for all. Professionals across various fields, from engineering to marketing, are utilizing different AI tools. One sector that was previously unexpected to be influenced by AI was the food industry, where the scope seemed limited. However, a leap has now been made in this area, particularly in the realm of ‘roti.’ An IITian, Animesh Chouhan, has developed an AI tool that evaluates the roundness of chapatis.

The new AI tool will detect if your rotis are perfectly round or not. Replying to a post by an X user who shared a picture of her nearly-perfect roti, the techie shared his AI Roti Checker. The user shared her round roti with a caption “Gol roti banana bhi ek art hai.” For this the graduate from IIT Kharagpur responded by using rotichecker.ai to determine the roundness of the roti scoring it 91 out of 100. He claimed “420 likes and rotichecker.ai goes public!” by sharing a screenshot of the AI analysing the chapati.

What Triggered rotichecker.ai Fame

The graduate from IIT Kharagpur responded by using rotichecker.ai to determine the roundness of the roti scoring it 91 out of 100. “420 likes and rotichecker.ai goes public!” he said, sharing a screenshot of the AI analysing the flatbread. The word ‘roti maker’ went top on Google searches from then. The same genius shared as screenshot of Google Trends where the Roti maker keyword had hundred of searches.

How Netizens Reacted?

Animesh Chouhan also demonstrated an innovative method for checking rotis. Many users even suggested creating their own AI tools, ranging from a Dosa Checker to a Chai Color Checker, and even a Chai Sugar Checker. However, the meme he shared along with his innovation faced backlash for being ‘misogynistic.’ He shared a sketch that implied his misogynistic attitude—a meme where a man is heard telling his mother that a girl with a roti score of 91 is fit to marry. After getting accused of creating a “misogynistic” program, the creator responded by sharing posts from men who also uploaded photos of their rotis to be analyzed by the AI. He addressed the accusation, saying, “Who said this platform is only for women? If you assumed that, then your own misogyny is showing, not mine. We have men posting here too. Cheers!”
