Microsoft Teams Free will now take over Skype’s services. Users would be able to log in to Teams with their existing Skype account id ; users would not have to create a new account, all of users chats and contacts would automatically be updated to the Teams platform. Teams Free will provide the users with the ability to hold one on one and group calls, messaging and file sharing. Beyond that, the application would also include features like meeting hosting, calendar use and community tools. After signing into Teams for free, a simple prompt would help and guide users to migrate data.
Microsoft has stated that the process would take less than a minute. However, a demerit of the shutdown would be that chats with Teams work or school accounts would not be parsed, along with Skype for Business users and Private conversations would not be transferred. Beyond that, bot content as well as chat with self would also not migrate. The incompatibility between the formats that skype uses and teams uses would lead to such issues.

You Can Also Migrate Data From Skype To Teams
For migrating the data, user would have to Sign Into Skype and go to My Account, In the settings page, select the export Contacts option. Skype would offer you all your contacts for download. From there on you would receive a CSV file that you would be able to open and edit in Excel.
For Chats and Media, log in at go.skype.com/export and select everything that you would want to download and parse to your new account. These could include messages, pictures, Videos, Recordings and Other files. From here on the user can confirm and wait for the exports to finish and from there you would get a download link under the available exports.
