Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni took a new selfie at the G7 Summit, following the viral hashtag Melodi trend from December last year. They looked happy and smiled for the photo. This is their second selfie, after Meloni posted one with Modi at the COP28 Summit in 2023 with the hashtag Melodi.

Cameras captured the friendly interaction between the two prime ministers. When PM Modi was greeted by Meloni, they both exchanged namaste gestures. They smiled and briefly chatted while exchanging pleasantries.

PM Modi participated in his fifth consecutive G7 summit, and India has attended the last ten summits. Italy, as the G7 chair, hosted the gathering of seven major economies: Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US, along with the European Union.

On Friday, PM Modi met with Meloni to discuss defense and security cooperation between their countries.

“The two sides discussed defense and security cooperation and hoped to enhance defense industrial collaboration. They welcomed the upcoming visit of the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour and the training ship ITS Vespucci to India later this year,” said the Ministry of External Affairs in an official statement.
